About us
We bring together IB schools in Cyprus so that school leaders and programme coordinators can exchange practice, coordinate professional activity and represent shared priorities more effectively.
Our purpose
Collaboration between schools. A practical forum for Heads, PYP, MYP, DP and CP coordinators to meet, share experience and work on common priorities.
Professional exchange. Meetings, events and learning opportunities relevant to IB schools in Cyprus.
Our role
A collective voice. Where schools face shared questions — including university recognition, policy or programme implementation — the Association can represent those concerns collectively.
Support for the wider IB community. A useful point of contact for existing IB World Schools and schools exploring IB programmes.

What is IB — and why do our schools choose it?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an educational framework used by schools around the world. Rather than prescribing one national curriculum, the IB provides schools with a common academic structure, standards for teaching and assessment, and clearly defined requirements for each programme.

A recognised academic framework
IB programmes have defined curriculum requirements, teaching standards and assessment expectations, providing consistency across IB World Schools internationally.

Breadth without losing depth
Students study across a broad range of subjects while progressively developing deeper knowledge in areas relevant to their future studies and interests.

Clear standards of assessment
IB assessment is based on published criteria and defined academic standards. In the Diploma Programme, final examinations are externally assessed and internal assessment is moderated.

Preparation for university-level work
Students practise research, academic writing, presentations, project work, time management and independent study before they leave school.

Flexibility for different schools
Schools work within IB requirements while retaining their own identity, language, local context and educational priorities.

A continuum across age groups
Schools can offer IB programmes at different stages, creating a coherent progression from primary education through secondary school and into the DP or CP.
